Q: When I print a report that uses the fill patterns on task bars I find that they merge to give a general grey pattern which are indistinguishable from each other. Can this be improved?

A:The fill patterns used for task bars are drawn as bit map images within the Windows environment; each dot on the bitmap corresponds to one pixel on the screen or printer. On screen displays the pixels are large and the patterns are clearly visible. On printer devices the dots often equate to the single pixel which on laser printers can be as small as 1/600th of an inch - this makes the pattern so fine that it becomes a grey scale. You can try the following steps to improve the images:

1
Decrease the resolution used on the printer (eg. from 600 to 300 dpi) - this will affect all the graphics printing including the text.
2
In GraWin, select the item Options from the Settings menu, on the panel set the option for Use coarse bitmaps for fills to give a clearer definition;
3
Use the coarser fill patterns when setting the style on the task bars.
