Q: Using Hornet 5000i we developed a series of text style reports that would print using continuous strips to a wide-carriage dot matrix printer. Can I still use these reports with Hornet Windmill?
A: Hornet Windmill has moved all reporting to a graphical style of output and uses the Windows printer drivers to produce the final printed image. The old text styles are still supported but you will need select the Install Text Style Reports option on the Custom Install section of the Hornet Windmill installation program - these reports are not loaded as standard. The text reports now have to be printed to file first, and can then be printed via the Windows printer drivers to your printer. This is automatically controlled within the Standard Reports, or use the Direct File Print dialog under Print Output on the Reports menu of the Main Control Panel. Remember that this style of printing bypasses the usual Windows printing methods and you must make sure that the options used to control the printer (the PRI utility definition) must match the target printer otherwise the output will be corrupted.
